Chamber Music

Sarah is a keen chamber musician and has been involved with some exciting projects over the years.

At the RCM Sarah was leader of the String Ensemble and they performed Tchaikovsky’s Souvenir de Florence with Gordon Nicolitch, leader of the London Symphony Orchestra. During her studies she was also selected to perform at the Mendelssohn on Mull festival.

In her gap year Sarah travelled to Italy to study with the cellist Liza Wilson and completed a chamber music at the Saluzzo Post Graduate School of Music and also got involved with a chamber group at the Turin Conservatoire.

With her string quartet Highly Strung, Sarah has performed at many venues across the UK and also in the Caribbean where Highly Strung were invited to perform on the islands of St Vincent, Bequia and Mustique. They also acted as ambassadors to promote string playing on the island. Repertoire performed include Schubert’s Death and the Maiden, Borodin, various Mozart quartets and the Dvorak American.

Sarah is currently playing with the Mercian Piano Trio based in the Midlands with pianist Beate Toyka and violoinist Cristinel Bacanu. They recently performed Schubert’s Trio No. 1, both Mendellsohn trios and many of the works by Mozart and Beethoven. Their most recent performance included the clarinetist Peter Glenville.
