Orchestral experience

The early years – Sarah began orchestral playing aged 13 when she joined the Nottingham Youth Orchestra and she was the youngest member to tour with them on their 10th anniversary tour to North America and Canada in 1995. She became principal in 1998 and performed the Saint Saens and Dohnanyi Concertos with the orchestra in later years.

Through college – At the RCM Sarah was principal cellist of the Sinfonietta, String Orchestra and Symphony Orchestra, working under conductors such as Andrew Litton and Bernard Haitink. She also lead the cello section for celebratory performance to celebrate the RCM’s centenary.

Since graduating – Sarah has played with London Concert Orchestra, the London Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, Raymond Gubbay Concerts and more locally the Lincoln Chamber Orchestra and English Pro Musica.

Sarah has also performed in many MUSICALS / SHOWS including West Side Story, the Sound of Music, Pajama Game, Peter Pan, Parade, A Man of No Importance, Beauty and the Beast and the debut of ‘Saturday Night and Sunday Morning’, a new musical based on the book by Alan Sillitoe. Written by friends and colleagues Stephen Williams and Catherine Spoors the show was performed at Nottingham’s Playhouse in May 2012.
